Ghana Overview

You’re looking in the right place for our unique top rated volunteering, medical electives, dentistry electives, and professional placements, and our non-profit ethos means we ensure the price you pay is fair and affordable. We’re partnered with NGOs, Ghana’s top university, and government clinics and hospital. We can therefore offer you a range of opportunities such as in schools teaching English, maths and science, construction work (bio-gas plants, toilets), mental health outreach, social working with child labourers, and psychology placements to name a few

Our first Ghana volunteers touched down in the summer of 2019 after a year-long assessment period of the country for suitability. Realising the incredible opportunities Ghana has to offer, we created our flagship Psychology, and Public Health programmes in collaboration with Ghana’s top university. We have supported the start-up of an NGO working with girls in Accra, providing them with school and vocational education. We also work in hospitals, and a school in what was a refugee, before transitioning to a town when the refugees were granted settled status. We know that you won’t want to miss the chance of matching up with these amazing projects in Ghana.

Ghana is a safe and stable democratic west African nation, with 560 kilometres of coastline to explore with their castles and forts, before going inland to enjoy Ghana’s rich history of African kingdoms, and to see jungle elephants and monkeys. It is certainly the destination if you’re looking to combine your working week with exploring local and national history on the weekends.

You can teach in schools, run holiday clubs to benefit local children, which would be great fun for all, Our teaching, and holiday club programmes and placements are suitable for anyone wanting to experience Africa safely with local people, with whom you can make a difference.

Ghana is where we host our flagship Psychology, and Public Health programmes that have been created by Give A fig Volunteering in collaboration with the University of Accra, and managed by our local partners. Find out more about our psychology placements and an African perspective
