Placement Description
Your community based social work placement will be with 8 locally organised and coordinated organisations who have been delivering support for suicide prevention, and mental health since 2015 years. Beginning as 2 organisations, they pioneered the establishment and delivery of local services, and are now in partnership with hospitals and a university.
The cooperative of local organisations have developed youth outreach programmes, successfully lowering the suicide rate amongst teens, gaining international recognition in the process, and established a wider remit delivering linked community services.
You will work with the office and outreach teams to support families, youth, and the organisations’ staff in meeting core outcomes: removing the stigma of mental health; developing the support necessary to prevent youth suicide; being the community services provider for people with a range of mental health issues.
The project runs wellbeing clubs in schools and universities, and have established 5 mental health clubs, delivering counselling, supporting individuals with their medication routines, supporting families, organising annual awareness campaigns, and well-being and self-help groups,
You can also support admin, the organisation of events, as well as other work to improve their service delivery.
